Lib Dems on West Sussex County Council are dismayed at yet another tax hike from the Conservative administration.

Coming hot on the heels of the Tory cabinet giving themselves a major pay rise they are now bumping up taxes for local people in Crawley by 4.49%. "The Tory County Council has raised Council Tax in our area by 123% over the last 10 years." said Morwen Millson, Lib Dem group leader on the Council.

Continuing Morwen said "They haven't accepted our call for a thorough review of council budgets based on what our residents need. All they do is pay expensive consultants to cut and prune, making front-line services harder to deliver."

"Then they have the nerve to increase their own salaries against the recommendations of their own pay review body."
