Commenting after the news that Gordon Brown had effectively "cancelled" the 2007 General Election Crawley Lib Dem leader, Cllr Gordon Seekings said "Since I was first old enough to vote in 1971 and involved in party politics since January 1974 I have never ever come across anybody so unwilling to argue his case as Gordon Brown."

Continuing Gordon said "As Ming Campbell said, Gordon Brown has clearly lost his nerve. That's not good in the leader of the country and we are now faced with a lame duck PM till at least May 2009."

"Ming argument this week for fixed term Parliaments has a lot of resonance. It would be a much fairer and better system for holding elections."
