Broadfield South Focus Editor Cllr Marcella Head says "In 2005 myself and a large group of residents from the Courts area of Broadfield had the pleasure in attending the awards ceremony at the Hawth, where we were presented with an award for the work undertaken in 'Broadfield Beeches' - the wooded area behind Carman walk".

"Over the May bank holiday period the area was cleared of rubbish, prickly bushes and over hanging branches. A lot of hard work was put in by young and old alike and great fun was had by all. The Council provided the tools, skips and expertise and the residents provided the fun and laughter!"

"Later in the Autumn many of the same residents, along with some new faces, returned to plant up the bulbs that have been enjoyed by many ever since. Is there an area near you that could do with not just a clear up but perhaps a Face Lift?"

"We have the tools and the expertise but just need the support of the locals to get these projects off the ground."

"Come on and give us a call, the Lets FACE it Team at the Town Hall are there to help. Their number is 0800 587 5888."
