Time to rattle those Labour & Conservative cages!

Lib Dem leader Ming Campbell has set out what the party's approach will be to the new Brown government. He promises that the party will "rattle the cage of British politics", exposing the government on issues such as BAE, freedom of information and the erosion of civil liberties.

Speaking to Liberal Democrat staff (inlcuding Crawley Councillor Gordon Seekings who works there) he also savaged the Conservatives for being in collusion with the government on a huge range of issues, from Trident to Council Tax to Iraq. He says the Liberal Democrats will take on this Lab Con 'cosy consensus'.

Ming vowed that however much Gordon Brown tries to distance himself from the Blair years the Liberal Democrats will "put him in the dock and scrutinise his policies and pronouncements with relentless, forensic vigour. His fingerprints are all over the scene of the crime."

Addressing the events of last week, Ming said that it is simply not possible for the Liberal Democrats to enter a Labour administration because of the political chasm which separates the parties on issues such as nuclear energy, ID cards, City Academies, Council Tax, Trident and above all the war in Iraq.
