Junction of Woodfield Road and Green Lane Northgate, Crawley - scene of more than one traffic accident

Northgate's Councillor Gordon Seekings met with Officers of West Sussex County Council this week to discuss the ongoing problems of road safety in Woodfield Road.

There was to say a certain degree of disagreement.

Although there was a general agreement that there are problems in this road there were differences of opinion as to how bad the situation is overall. Road traffic has increased in speed at the Police Station end but in other parts of the road data from automated traffic studies suggests that speeds may be less now then they were.

No matter what the true level of problems are in this road it was confirmed that further safety works are planned. The County Council Highway Engineers will be meeting in mid March with various experts to discuss Woodfield Road in depth.

It is hoped that immediately after this suggestions for further improvements will be made and for an early implementation if suitable finance can be found.
