Northgate Parade - latest news2.05.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 16th Feb 2007
After several years of promises and seemingly not much more by the Borough Council things are at last happening. A plan has been produced for improvements to The Parade and this is now out for public consultation. An exhibition of the plans is to be held at St Paul's Church, Woodfield Road, Northgate, on Monday 19th February from 3pm through to 7pm.
The plans are in draft form and any changes suggested by local residents will be taken on board so far is possible. Amongst the proposals are to make the existing entrance/exit road an entrance only and create a new exit at the Woodfield Road end of Barnfield Road. This will allow the traffic to flow freely through the car park and hopefully make life less stressful for people parking cars. Other proposed changes are increased street lighting, better recycling area, new paving and even improvements to the pathways fronting Barnfield Road in front of the Black Dog. Once the consultation is over any amendments as a result of the consultation will be made to the plan. It will then go to Crawley Borough Council's Executive for approval and, if approved, then the intention is for the works to be completed by the end of the year.
