Housing Repairs - a cause for concern

2.39.10pm UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 11th Jan 2007

Crawley Councillor Marcella Head

Speaking at the Extraordinary Council meeting last night Broadfield South Lib Dem Councillor, Marcella Head, argued passionately for improvements to the way the Borough Council's Housing Department is run.

Marcella quoted examples of some tenants having had several kitchen units replacements in the last 15 years - whether they were needed or not - and yet others were still making do with 30 year old ones long overdue for replacement.

Continuing Marcella suggested that significant savings could be made in the Council's Housing budget without any loss of service. What was needed was for work done on Council houses to be done when it was needed and done right first time, every time.
