Northgate Councillor Gordon Seekings has criticised Labour for a cheap con trick over green issues. At the Labour Party conference, Environment Secretary David Miliband promised £10m to help fund projects like wind power. But it has emerged that this £10m will come from cutting schemes to promote double-glazing and insulation.

Gordon Seekings - "There is little point building wind farms if the energy that is produced is then wasted"

Gordon Seekings said "There is little point building wind farms to provide energy that will be wasted in badly-insulated buildings. These insulation schemes were designed to promote household energy efficiency. This is an area where a lot of energy is still wasted and where people can make their own individual contribution to dealing with one of today's major issues."
