Northgate Parade - the story continues……….11.02.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 25th Apr 2006
Northgate Parade needs renovation work to be done on it. Northgate residents have known it for years but in all that time the one barrier to getting anything done has been the Labour-run Borough Council who are actually the owners of the Parade. As reported in Northgate FOCUS the Lib Dems thought they had succeeded in getting action when they were promised that the work would start in April 2005. Money was even put aside by the Borough Council to do it. Work however has not yet started or even a date given for when it will be. Since the Northgate Parade was built Crawley has built a Leisure Centre - and demolished it - and built a new one. In that time a Town Hall was built and it's now being proposed that it is also demolished and a new one built. And in all that time no proper money has been spent on Northgate's Parade. One of the biggest assets to Northgate Parade was the sub-Post Office. That has now gone. Would it have stayed if money had been spent on improvements to Northgate Parade?
