"to pretend he is still a Labour Councillor is pushing things a bit far."

Crawley Liberal Democrats are chuckling at the results of a recent check on local political opponent's websites. Both the Tory and Labour parties seem to have pages that are nearly 18 months out of date! In Labour's case their local MP's web site is still showing a page showing Owen Richards as a Councillor - but he didn't stand for re-election in 2004. In the Conservatives case they do report the results of the 2004 elections but somehow have still kept the headline about making 2004 the year for change.

Commenting Crawley Lib Dems Webmaster Gordon Seekings said "One change the Conservatives haven't grasped is how to keep a website up to date. I know that conservatism means resistance to change but I didn't think that meant applying it to there own website!"

Gordon continued "I knew Labour's Owen Richards when he actually was a Councillor. He was better than most Labour ones and the present lot almost certainly miss him. However to pretend he is still a Labour Councillor is pushing things a bit far."

As far as keeping this website up to date you only have to look to see the difference. Crawley Lib Dems website is always being updated with the latest political news in Crawley. It has a regular readership not just in Crawley and other parts of the UK but also in various countries in Europe including France, Poland and Finland. It is also regularly accessed from the USA.

Gordon Seekings commenting on the international dimension to Crawley's website said "I know several of the readers of the website in Europe. Many of them are former Crawley residents and it's a way for them to keep up to date with local political news - especially as the political reporting in the local newspapers in Crawley is now virtually non-existent."

Gordon went on to say "Some of the most interesting feedback on the website is from the USA. Very often it's from a student doing research using the political quotes section and wanting to check a source. I'm always happy to help and if this means educating some residents of the USA to the wider world then I'm more than happy to do it!"
