K2 Leisure Centre in Crawley

Pensioners should not be financially penalised for access to services

Crawley Lib Dems have re-affirmed their support for Crawley's Pensioners in getting access to Crawley's new K2 Sports Centre following local media reports that Pensioners are to get a worse deal than they get at present with the Crawley Leisure Centre.

Crawley's Lib Dem group leader, Councillor Gordon Seekings said "It seems to me that the purpose of the new Leisure Centre is to provide a modern up to date facility for Crawley's residents. It therefore seems somewhat perverse for one group, in this case Pensioners, to then be penalised financially on access to the services there."

"The new K2 Sports Centre is being paid for with public funds. It will be a state of the art facility and will be a source of pride for Crawley's residents. It therefore seems unjust to penalise the very group who have put more money, and given more service, to the wider community in Crawley than most."

"Crawley's Lib Dem group on Crawley Borough Council will do all it can to support a scheme that ensures Pensioners get a deal no worse than the one that they presently get with Crawley Leisure Centre."
