Liberal Democrats support clean and sustainable energy - including the use of Wind Power

The Liberal Democrats have passed a series of measures that together form a strategy for clean and sustainable energy at their Conference.

The strategy is based on energy demand reduction, greater energy efficiency, the use of economic instruments, combined heat and power, micro-generation and community-based forms of generation and a mix of renewable energy sources that include biomass, wind, wave, tidal, and solar.

Specific policies will include: Ensuring that 20% of UK electricity is generated from a range of renewable sources by 2020; Reforms to the regulation of energy markets to reduce barriers to small energy suppliers; Government commitment to British targets to reduce emissions through the EU Emissions Trading Scheme and replace the Climate Change level with a Carbon Tax.
