Crawley Lib Dems PPC, Rupert Sheard, calls for greater Council control on planning issues

2.23.18am UTC (GMT +0000) Sun 30th Jan 2005

Lib Dem Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, Rupert Sheard, backs Crawley Borough Council's Lib Dem group in calling for Laura Moffat's support in getting better local control on planning issues.

Rupert Sheard joined with Councillor Gordon Seekings and Councillor Linda Seekings in urging support for the current private members bill going through parliament.

Rupert said, "I am delighted that Gordon and Linda have put pressure on Laura Moffat in this way. This bill would make sure that phone masts are subject to the same planning rules as everything else, and that the elected council decides. This bill would mean that companies would no longer be able to ride roughshod over local opinion.

"I know that this is not a government bill, but I hope Laura Moffat will take the opportunity to show that she can use her vote in the Commons to help Crawley residents and not the Labour government".
