Local Income Tax tops MoneySavingExpert Poll

A poll conducted through www.moneysavingexpert.com has seen Local Income Tax favoured as the preferred option for local taxation by over 40% of the voters. The present hated Council Tax received under 10% of the votes cast.

The poll at www.moneysavingexpert.com asked the following question:

Which system of local tax do you prefer, don't worry about exemptions for those on benefits, pensioners, and students - this is about general concepts. The amount we pay in local tax is fairest if it depends purely on...

The results were:

* each adult's own income 42.1% - (491 Votes)

* the number of adults in the house. 21.4% - (250 Votes)

* the number of adults in proportion to house income 21.2% - (247 Votes)

* the value of the house 9.1% - (107 Votes)

* the number of adults in proportion to house value 5.7% - (67 Votes)
