Post Office closures - Lib Dem Councillors meet Post Office Chiefs

5.00.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Sun 25th Jan 2004

Commenting after their meeting with Post Office Managers on Friday 23 Jan, Lib Dem Councillors Gordon & Linda Seekings, said "It was painfully obvious that the Post Office are not interested in keeping these 4 sub-Post Offices open (Northgate Parade, Ifield Green, Pound Hill's Peterhouse Parade and West Green's Ewhurst Road)"

Even the Labour Councillors at the meeting sensed that their hope for saving the Post Offices was small.

Gordon went on to say "Both Linda Seekings and myself, as the Councillors for Northgate, we put forward a strong defence of Northgate's sub Post Office and showed how the Post Office were factually incorrect on their report on alternatives.

"The reality though is that the fight over the saving this Post Office and others in Crawley was lost when MP's like Laura Moffat supported the Post Office closure plan back in October 2002."
