Labour's Tax Bombshell - It's not just the Labour rose that's the wrong way round
Thu 10th Apr 2008
If you earn between about £5,400 to £16,000 a year, you will notice a tax increase in your pay packet in April. This is because the 10% income tax band has been doubled to 20% by the Labour Government, in a change announced by Gordon Brown last year but only brought into force this month. This extra tax is being used to cut taxes on higher earners.

Speaking at the launch of the party's local election campaign at Sheffield Hallam Students' Union today, Liberal Democrat Leader, Nick Clegg said "Today we are launching our local government election campaign. These elections are crucial for the local communities in which they are held. They will determine whether there is simply to be a ritual swapping of seats in the Town Hall. Tories must explain why they voted for the Iraq War
Thu 20th Mar 2008
MPs will vote next week on whether there should be a full-scale inquiry into the Iraq war to ensure that lessons are learnt from the mistakes made. This will be done in an attempt to force Gordon Brown to honour his pledge to hold an investigation. The Prime Minister committed himself to calling an inquiry in a letter to the Fabian Society. But he insisted the time is not yet right because the situation in Iraq remains "fragile".

A Message from Nick Clegg as Voters back the Lib Dem stance on Europe by 2:1
Mon 3rd Mar 2008
Last Tuesday, my colleagues and I tabled an amendment in the House of Commons on the Liberal Democrat proposal for a referendum on Britain's membership of the European Union. We did so because we believe that the European debate has poisoned Britain's politics for too long. If we are to look to the future and tackle the new global challenges such as climate change and international terrorism we need to decide once and for all whether that future lies within the European Union, or outside it.

"Liberalism in Britain has lost a great champion, the Liberal Democrats, a great advocate and our public life, a great servant. "
Lord Paddy Ashdown
In memory of Lord Richard Holme, who died on 5 May
"If the Tories want to claim that they are going to cut corporation tax, they have to come clean about how they are going to pay for it. Cutting the main rate of corporation tax to 25% will cost more than £5bn a year. If David Cameron is to have a hope of sounding credible he must state clearly where the money will come from. Otherwise this will be seen as yet another unfunded tax cut. "
